Revolving 6-week series · Jump in any week
This class is designed for people who have never danced tango before — or who are in their first year and want to build a stronger foundation. Each 6-week series covers the core vocabulary of social tango from the ground up: the embrace, walking, weight changes, simple figures, and how to navigate a social dance floor. No partner required. No experience needed.
The series revolves continuously, so you can join at any point and complete the full 6 weeks from wherever you started.
6-week topical series · New focus every cycle
For dancers who have completed the beginner series or have prior tango experience. Each 6-week cycle focuses on a specific theme — musicality, close embrace technique, a particular vocabulary element, or the refinement of what you already know. This is where the real work begins.
Adam's intermediate classes are built around the philosophy that refinement is more valuable than collecting new steps. Small adjustments in technique create dramatic changes in how the dance feels — for you and for your partner.
Adam's approach to teaching is the same whether he's in Portland or at a festival. Every class is structured, methodical, and built on a clear understanding of both roles — leader and follower. You will leave every week with something concrete and danceable.
Hands-on instruction at the Tampa Tango Festival
Tango Berretin is Portland's dedicated Argentine tango venue — a warm, welcoming space with a proper hardwood floor, good sound, and a real tango community. It is the home of Portland tango and the right place to begin your journey.
Classes are held every Tuesday night. The beginner class runs first, immediately followed by the intermediate class, so many students stay for both.

Adam and Marina are available to teach workshops and perform at festivals, milongas, and tango events around the world. Adam has taught at festivals across the US, Taiwan, China, and South America — at every level from complete beginners to advanced dancers and teachers.
Workshop topics are tailored to your community's needs. Each class is built around a clear theme with real technique — not a performance, but a genuine teaching experience that your dancers will be talking about long after the festival ends.
